Connections is about the links between us all, and how far we’ll go to either nuture or sever those connections. The songs range from a couple drifting apart from one another, to using witchcraft to bind a reluctant lover to them. Jealousy, narcissism, insanity, and even hope, all make their appearance on Connections, all to the tune of often bouncy retro-pop and new-wave/synth-pop beats for contrast. Chance of Lightning were inspired by the “innocent days” of synth-pop music from the late 70’s and early 80’s on Connections …when a “band” of synth and drum machine-toting musicians (and maybe a guitarists), would get together and play live parts, and build songs in a tradition way (but with very non-tradition instruments).
